Guess who's back?
I never really left. Sure, I'd put minecraft on a shelf for a while, but I always pick it back up and play some form or another a couple times a year. Lately I've been playing GregTech: New Horizons (GTNH) and lemme tell you... whooooooo boy is that a complicated pack. Not for everyone, but it scratches an itch for me something fierce.
Sidetracked. I may have ADHD or Autism, certainly on some spectrum or another. The point of this post was to be a place to show some screenshots of (my) ancient minecraft history.
This is the oldest screenshot I can find, from December 2010. Minecraft Alpha v1.2.5, I was exploring across a body of water and came upon a forest that generated near a pool of lava. It mostly burned down but left this unsightly mess in the sky... I spent a couple hours cleaning it up and gathering wood.
This is a render from an application called Overviewer (I think). It's also from one of the first servers that I hosted, which I believe I inherited from one of my coworkers. We ran this up until the 1.0 release, after which we reset the world and made a new map.
Same area but with a different rendering program called Minetographer. More closely matches what is seen ingame.
The lake under my black skull castle hosted a fun side project where I strip mined down to bedrock. Then I filled up all the tunnels with TNT and blew the whole thing up. We've got a video of the event happening, most people were kicked from the server when it exploded. I think I was using the Sphax texture pack here.
My buddy Scott used to build these outrageously large contraptions. His pride and joy was a wheat farm that (also) brought the server to its knees when it harvested.
After Steve Jobs died I put up a memorial in game.
Here's a fun papercraft you can make! Print it out, cut out the shapes, tape or glue them together. Desk Creeper!
We covered Scott's tower in picture frames. He was... not amused to say the least. A backup was restored to undo the damage.
I played around with MCEdit to try and import people's hard work from one world to another, when a server reset was needed. This could sometimes cause chunk corruption and was a complete PITA to pull off, so I didn't do that too often.
Server icon used on host computer.
Thinking about loading up some of my backup worlds and inviting old friends to come hang out and explore. HMU if you want to join!
